Slavery with a Smile - American Style
The ruling elite in the federal government speak of social justice, environmentalism, healthcare for all, etc. These are merely smiley face stickers slapped on legislation that truly is aimed at securing more power for those in power, and corralling us commoners into their pen. We are being herded like cattle. Our free ranges are being closed off and we're being steered into feedlots to eat the food of those in power, and receive their prescribed medicines. There is no choice, no freedom, and resistance is futile. They have all the power. We have elections, but who would vote against a smiley face? Really! Only a racist bigot would ever vote 'no' to a smiley face. Even if that smiley face sticker is on a pair of shackles.
"Shackles? Don't be ridiculous. That's just nonsense promulgated by fear mongers attempting to stir up division. You little peon. You lack the intellectual acumen and expertise to fully comprehend the nuances and complexity of the mechanisms that are painstakingly crafted through a transparently open process to deliver to you this vitally important smiley face. You are entitled to this smiley face. All Americans (including hyphenated Americans and people who aren't really Americans but are squatting here anyway) are entitled to this smiley face. This smiley face is a basic human right (as deemed by the intellectually elite) and only a simple-minded, racist bigot would deny anyone this smiley face."
And so millions of Americans who believe in global warming, environmentalist, social justice, free healthcare for all, etc., etc., etc., are filled with hope as they vote for candidates that promise to make all of our wildest dreams come true on such issues. We're told we must be patient, of course, and that "There's a long road ahead" on the way towards progress. But we do see smiley faced legislation passed. Oddly enough, insurance carriers begin dropping coverage, doctors begin to rethink their career choice, jobs continue to shrink, a debt tsunami builds on the horizon, the gap between the Washington elite (and their wealthy business associates) and the rest of us widens, and freedom begins to fade.
I didn't used to believe in conspiracy theories. I didn't used to think that those in Washington had no regard for the future of Americans whatsoever and were only interested in themselves. I didn't used to think that big business and Washington were colluding in an evil alliance to force the masses to purchase certain products. I didn't used to think that those in Washington would use issues to line their pockets and secure their own power at the expense of the country. I didn't used to think that those in Washington were disciples of Communism more-so than disciples of the Constitution. I didn't used to think that those in the federal government would do anything to silence dissenters. I didn't used to be afraid of the government.
Anything the government offers comes with chains attached. ANYTHING. There's an inverse relationship between government action and individual freedom, and I have become convinced that those elitists in power will now use any issue to persuade Americans to support their schemes to subjugate us.
